Category A: 11 to 14 Years old
- The first movement of a sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, or Beethoven.
- One of the following:
- A substantial composition by Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Brahms, or any work of the 19th century.
- A complete work of the 20th or 21st centuries.

- One of the following:
- A substantial composition by Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Brahms, or any work of the 19th century.
- A complete work of the 20th or 21st centuries.
- One substantial work, or a collection of the applicant's choice which is in a different style and by a composer other than those represented in the previous requirements.

- The first movement of a sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, or Beethoven.
- One of the following:
- A substantial composition by Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Brahms, or any work of the 19th century.
- A complete work of the 20th or 21st centuries.
- One substantial work, or a collection of the applicant's choice which is in a different style and by a composer other than those represented in the previous requirements.
(Nocturnes, short dances, waltzes, or comparable pieces are not acceptable.)
